HALESWORTH WHISPERS is a video poem written and created by ‘Suffolk’s unofficial poet laureate’, Dean Parkin. Commissioned as part of a residency to explore and celebrate the town and its people during the lockdowns of 2020-21, Dean gathered memories, stories and thoughts from locals, reaching out to many who’ve been feeling 'cast adrift'.

 

The 10-minute video poem mixes film recorded by Nathan Berry in May 2021 with photographs (past and present) and archive footage. The music was composed and performed by pianist Maurice Horhut and the video poem was produced by Naomi Jaffa and Poetry People.

'Halesworth Whispers' was generated by the Celebrating Us residency, organised by Suffolk Artlink and Dance East with funding from Arts Council England.
